An idyllic retreat in the South Downs.
Ivy House’s thoughtfully restored beauty is best described as cosy serenity. Each room juxtaposing original cottage charm with a soft, welcoming color-card and a pared back Scandinavian touch.
Every comfort for your stay has been considered. From the beds made with heavenly Bedfolk linens to bathrooms stocked with Wildsmith products. In the kitchen pantry you’ll find our favourite Grind coffee beans, Knoops hot chocolate and bubbles from local supplier, The Hambledon.
Carve out some time, gather your favourite people and make Ivy House yours for a few special days.
With a total of six well sized bedrooms, the sprawling gardens and the magnificent farmhouse barn as extra entertaining space, Ivy House is ideal for larger families or groups.
The main cottage welcomes with two receptions. The living with original features and cosy open hearth. And the adjacent Aga-warmed kitchen. A place to mingle, enjoy the aromas of meals in the making and views over surrounding gardens and fields - good wines and coffee always at hand.
The cottage houses four bedrooms, including the master bedroom with ensuite featuring a freestanding clawed tub. Upstairs you’ll find two more doubles—one of which is ensuite. The fourth double is located downstairs, where there’s a cottage wet room and toilet.
The converted workshop houses an additional twin and double, both with heated stone floors. A shared bathroom nestled in between.
The farmhouse barn is ideal for special occasions and bigger events. The large dining table takes centre stage - comfortably seating twelve. You'll also find a full size table tennis, a stash of family board games, and a growing library of (mostly gardening and interiors!) books.
A wander through the cottage gardens, developed together with designer Rebecca Smith, reveals many delightful spots to relax or entertain. From the kitchen garden with dining terrace to the tree-shaded reading bench, through to the summer barn patio with large clay oven and comfy lounge seating. During the warmer months, grab Ivy House's picnic baskets and blankets and head to a tree-shaded spot in our fields.
Ivy house provides a magical setting for special days away and events. If you have an idea, don't hesitate to reach out.
